Course Description

This course targets the means of cultivating a strong, authentic relationship with God (Father, Son, and Spirit) based upon time-tested and prayer-loaded habits, or “Spiritual Disciplines” as they’re sometimes called.

Meeting Dates: This course occurs on November 26, Dec. 3 and January 14 & 21.

Course Goal: To live life in a loving, authentic relationship with God

Course Description: Jesus said those “those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will” (at some point) “be satisfied” (Matt 5:6). But how? This verse at once points to both a hungry and teachable heart, one longing for deep, satisfying transformation, and one dissatisfied with worldly ambitions and answers, a heart, in short, after God’s own heart. With this course we attempt to target four practices necessary for spiritual growth: entering into deep submission, practicing basic holy rhythms, learning how to confront the spiritual “wall,” and facilitating regular renewal. Along the way, we’ll take a hard look at how we can make prayer central to our lives and what it really means to read and study Scripture, as well as the fruit born of such devotion. This is one course of six towards the Bible Certificate.

Course Description

The Old Testament three-part series provides an overview of the Old Testament and dives into more intensive studies of the Scriptures, with geographical, historical, and cultural insights to help you understand God's story throughout time. Our hope is that a deeper study of God's Word will lead to a better understanding of God's plan and lead to life-transformation.

This Course:
In this 7-week OT Survey-Part 2, we'll study the OT books from Joshua through II Kings, covering the conquest, the period of the judges, and the first kings of Israel. Along with the Bible, a companion book titled, "Telling God's Story" will provide helpful insights as you study the Bible and learn about historical characters such as Joshua, Samuel, King Saul, King David, and King Solomon. You'll learn so much about how these historical accounts fit into the overall story of what God has done in history to reconcile sinful man to Himself.

Instructors:
This course will feature a variety of qualified instructors, each bringing their unique style to share insights from the Scriptures.

Format:
As with every Northside U course, you'll study in a learning community of 5-8 people at a table to discuss the weekly content and live teaching. Each week, you'll have assigned Scripture along with a correlating chapter in the book to read prior to class.

Bible Certificate:
Earn the Northside U Bible Certificate for the successful completion of the 6-course Bible track--OT Survey (Parts 1, 2, & 3), and NT Survey (Parts 1, 2, & 3).
